§ Mr. Iain Millsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many endorsements were given to motorists prosecuted for faulty tyres in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983, respectively.
§ Mr. HurdInformation on endorsements for offences of a vehicle or part of a vehicle being in a defective condition, which includes offences relating to defective 359W tyres, is published annually in "Offences relating to motor vehicles, England and Wales, Supplementary tables" a copy of which is in the Library of the House (in Table 11 for magistrates' courts and Table 12 for the Crown Court). Separate figures for offences of defective tyres in 1982 are given in the following table. Provision of similar figures for 1980 and 1981 would involve disproportionate cost. Figures for 1983 are not yet available.
