HC Deb 01 March 1984 vol 55 c310W
Mr. Mason

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is now able to make a statement on the introduction of a salmon tagging scheme, as recommended by the salmon sales group; and if he will outline how it will operate in the particular conditions of Scotland.

Mr. John MacKay

The salmon sales group's recommendations could not be implemented in Scotland as they stand. In the light of the general support for some kind of salmon sales control officials will hold discussions with the appropriate interests to see whether a workable scheme can be developed within Great Britain.
