Mr. David Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the detection rates for each of the police authorities for the latest year for which figures are available.

The information requested is given in the following table. These clear-up rates are average rates for all notifiable offences recorded and as clear-up rates differ markedly for different categories of offence they are affected by variations in the type of offences recorded and the circumstances of those offences.
