§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what action he intends to take to improve the prospects of applicants from comprehensive schools to gain admission to Oxford and Cambridge universities;
(2) if he will issue recommendations to seek to ensure that comprehensive school pupils receive appropriate tuition for Oxford and Cambridge university entrance examinations.
§ Mr. DunnMy right hon. Friend has no plans to take action or issue recommendations with these specific purposes in mind. However, the Government's policies for raising standards in schools will help all students as they prepare for entry to institutions of further and higher education.
