Since the Enterprise Allowance Scheme was introduced nationally on 1 August 1983, 360 people had been accepted on to it in the Shropshire area up to 6 June 1984. At the same date 18 applications were being considered and 159 people were waiting to attend an information session prior to making a formal application.
