HC Deb 11 June 1984 vol 61 cc349-50W
Mr. Baldry

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people it is estimated have found jobs in the month of May.

Mr. Alan Clark

There are some 6 million job changes a year involving both the newly employed and people in work. Estimates are not available for individual months.

Mr. Baldry

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many new jobs it is estimated were created in the month of May.

Mr. Alan Clark

Information about job losses and job gains is not available from the Department's statistics, but an indication of the net changes can be seen by comparing employment levels at different dates. The latest employment estimates appear in the May edition of Employment Gazette which is in the Library.
