asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people are currently in receipt of housing benefit (a) in England, (b) in Lancashire and (c) in Burnley.

The latest available estimate of the number of householders in Great Britain receiving housing benefit is about 7 million. Information for Lancashire is not available. Estimates provided by Burnley borough council in August 1983 indicate that the number of households in Burnley receiving housing benefit is about 21,000.
