asked the Secretary of State for Employment when he next expects to meet European Economic Community Employment Ministers to discuss shortening the working week.

My right hon. Friend looks forward to meeting his European counterparts at the informal meeting of Employment Ministers in Dublin on 20–21 September. Later in the year he shall meet European Employment Ministers at the Council of Ministers (Labour and Social Affairs). Working time is not on the agenda for the informal meeting. The agenda for the Council of Ministers has yet to be decided.
