asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he has any proposals to deal with the present level of industrial unrest.

Mr. Gummer

The Government continue to provide a framework within which good industrial relations can prosper; strike statistics since 1979 indicate that those efforts have had good effect except for this year's continuing coal mining dispute, for which the Government can see no justification.
