HC Deb 31 July 1984 vol 65 c198W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the value, in money and real terms, of overseas aid supplied to Ethiopia from (a) the United Kingdom and (b) all sources for every year since 1970.

Mr. Raison

The information requested is as follows:

£150,000 to a similar appeal from the international committee of the Red Cross. These appeals are all intended substantially to benefit Ethiopia as well as other drought-stricken countries. We are also proposing to explore with the World Food Programme the possibility that it might draw on our large contribution to its regular work and international emergency food reserve for the benefit of Ethiopia.
