Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the extent of the illegal importation of hard drugs by foreign diplomats.

Mr. Luce

We are aware of only one case in the last ten years where a person entitled to diplomatic immunity imported a controlled drug. he was removed from the United Kingdom at our request.

We would request a waiver of the immunity or the removal of any diplomat accused of hard drug offences, provided that the evidence was sufficient.
