§ Mr. HurdDuring the financial year 1981–82 the average weekly cost of keeping a person in custody was £195. It is estimated that the weekly cost of a community service order and a probation order were both about £10.628W These estimates depend upon assumptions about the allocation of the time of probation officers and are approximate.
