HC Deb 24 January 1984 vol 52 cc545-7W
Mr. Gregory

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the difference between the outturn and the planned expenditure for each year since 1974–75 for spending in England on (a) motorway and trunk road construction, (b) motorway and trunk road maintenance and (c) total motorway and trunk road expenditure.

Mrs. Chalker

The information is given in the table. Figures up to and including 1979–80 are in volume terms, the basis on which public expenditure planning was then carried out. The figures for later years are in cash. Variations are shown in percentage terms to facilitate comparison.
