HC Deb 24 January 1984 vol 52 cc549-50W
Mr. Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the estimated administration cost of the severe disablement allowance for each claimant (a) under the age of 20 years and (b) over the age of 20 years.

Mr. Newton

The average cost of a claim will vary substantially depending on the frequency of appeals and the numbers of cases involving medical assessment. Administrative procedures have not yet been worked out in detail, but we estimate that the cost of handling an individual claim might vary from less than £10 to well over £100.
