§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have recently taken place between Her Majesty's Government and the Government of the Irish Republic; on what subjects; and with what results; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WhitneyMy right hon. Friend the Prime Minister met the Taoiseach on 7 November 1983 and made a statement to the House the following day at column 147. Since then there have been a number of meetings between officials covering a wide range of practical issues of common concern. There have also been ministerial discussions on education, the environment, the European Community and security. We firmly believe that good relations between the two Governments are in the best interests of both countries.
