HC Deb 20 February 1984 vol 54 c362W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will conclude as a matter of urgency his investigations into the residence status of Mr. H. M. Hassan, in view of the difficulties this person and his family are currently suffering in Munich; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waddington

Mr. Hassan first called at our consulate general in Munich in early December claiming to be a British citizen and to have been settled in this country since 1969. So far he has been unable to produce evidence to substantiate these claims, but urgent inquiries are being made to establish whether he is entitled to enter this country.

I shall write to the hon. Member as soon as these inquiries are complete.
