§ Mr. Barnettasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much money was offered to the Southern African Development Co-ordination Conference in Maseru in 1983; and for what specific projects any such money was earmarked.
§ Mr. RaisonI announced that the British Government planned to commit up to £2 million for port development, fisheries research and manpower development.
§ Mr. Barnettasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether any of the money offered for agreed projects to the Southern African Development Co-ordination Conference in Maseru in 1983 were also offered at the Zimcord donors' conference previously for the same projects.
§ Mr. RaisonAt the Maseru meeting I pledged up to £2 million new aid for SADCC programmes of high priority. I also described the progress made by that date in defining possible projects for using the £10 million which the Government had already promised at the Zimcord meeting. This £10 million, which was not of course pledged a second time, was for regional projects in the SADCC area, particularly to improve rail communications between Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
