HC Deb 16 February 1984 vol 54 cc327-8W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, for each of the past five years (a) how many company directors and (b) how many people other than company directors have been prosecuted under section 147(7) of the Social Security Act 1975 indicating, respectively, for (a) and (b) what percentage of such cases resulted in convictions and how much money was recovered.

Dr. Boyson

No prosecutions under section 147(7) of the Social Security Act 1975 have been taken in England and Wales within the last five years. In Scotland, one company director was prosecuted under section 147(7) in 1979, and a decree was awarded to the Department for £11,355. To date, £9,366 has been recovered and recovery action is continuing. There have been no other prosecutions under section 147(7) in Scotland within the last five years.
