§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department for what reason he decided that it was not conducive to the public good for five trades unionists from eastern Europe to attend a trade union conference in Glasgow; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WaddingtonThe five persons refused visas were officials of the international trades union committee for peace and disarmament which was formed by the World Federation of Trades Unions, an international Communist front organisation.
It has been the long-standing policy of successive Governments to refuse free rein in the United Kingdom to the activities of such organisations, and visas have regularly been refused in the past to applicants of this kind.
