asked the Secretary of State for Defence how he has replied to the request from the leaders of the churches in Scotland for discussions on defence issues.

As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence told the hon. Member for Edinburgh, East (Mr. Strang) on 2 December, at c. 649, he has invited representatives of the Scottish Churches Council to meet him to discuss the issues that concern them. I understand that a meeting has been arranged for next month.
