35. Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what financial contribution is made by the Federal Republic of Germany to the cost of the British Army of the Rhine; and what activities it is intended to cover.

The final bilateral offset agreement with the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany expired in March 1980. The Government of the Federal Republic do, however, make available rent-free a large proportion of the accommodation occupied by both the British Army of the Rhine and RAF Germany.
