HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 c22W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether the reply to the hon. Member for Kingswood (Mr. Hayward) on 30 January, Official Report, c. 34, includes the cost of continuing research and development work on engines for Concorde; and what continuing costs of this nature he expects Her Majesty's Government to finance in the current, and each of the next four years that will not be wholly reimbursed by Concorde users.

Mr. Butcher

The expenditures included reimbursement of the manufacturer's costs of in-service support of the Concorde engine under a contract that has been terminated with effect from 31 March 1984. As indicated, these and all other support costs in 1983–84 have been fully recovered. Research and development work as such ceased when the engine development phase came to an end on 31 December 1980.
