Dr. McDonald

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the current size of the experimental task force investigating moonlighting and the amount recovered so far in the financial year 1983–84.

Mr. Moore

[pursuant to his reply, 6 February 1984, c. 437]: The number of officers currently employed in the experimental task force investigating moonlighting is 70. The amount recovered in the first six months of the current financial year—the latest period for which figures are available—is £3,428,506.

Dr. McDonald

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the number of (a) extra staff or (b) redeployed Inland Revenue staff set aside in the task force to deal with the practice known as moonlighting.
