HC Deb 08 February 1984 vol 53 cc614-5W
Mr. Snape

asked the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the reply to the hon. Member for West Bromwich, East, Official Report, 26 January, c. 689, on what date the document "Snow Hill Rail Link" was submitted (a) to officials of his Department's regional office and (b) to his Department's central office; whether he is satisfied with the detail contained in that document; when he expects evaluation of the scheme to be completed; and if he will consult the appropriate district councils.

Mrs. Chalker

The document referred to was sent to the Department's regional office on 12 October last. After further discussion with officers of West Midlands county council, a copy was forwarded to my Department's head office, with covering commentary, on 20 December.

The document gives a broad description of the scheme, but is not a sufficiently detailed appraisal. The Department will shortly be writing to the county council with some further questions and in the light of the replies as early a decision as possible will be given.
