HC Deb 08 February 1984 vol 53 c615W
Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Transport why Her Majesty's Government have not taken steps to require the removal of campers and caravaners from such land at the perimeter of Greenham common base which his Department owns; and if he will now take steps to do so.

Mr. Ridley

The campers have been allowed to remain on highway land at the junction of the A339 trunk road and the main access to RAF Greenham common so long as they did not endanger road safety. I intend shortly to improve this junction. The campers will have to vacate it to enable the roadworks to be carried out.
