§ Sir Peter Mills
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the pressures on local authorities to reduce costs, he will reduce his requirements for manpower returns from them; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Waldegrave
My right hon. Friend has no plans at present to change the arrangements under the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 for the local publication of manpower information for the benefit of ratepayers; or those for the voluntary and longstanding joint manpower watch survey designed to assist the work of the Consultative Council on Local Government Finance and conducted under its auspices.
