HC Deb 01 February 1984 vol 53 c256W
Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many companies in Great Britain paid corporation tax in the latest year for which figures are available.

Mr. Moore

I have been asked to reply. I refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for Birmingham, Perry Barr (Mr. Rooker) on 20 January.—[Vol. 52, c.347.] The exclusion of Northern Irish companies from the figures I gave in that answer would not affect the overall estimate.

Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many companies paid corporation tax on profits of less than £5,000 for the latest year in which figures are available.

Mr. Moore

I have been asked to reply. Approximately 150,000.
