asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in the third quarter of 1984, how many vessels over 500 deadweight tonnage were ordered for building in the United Kingdom or abroad by United Kingdom shipowners for registration in the United Kingdom.

In the third quarter of 1984 there were six vessels of over 500 DWT ordered under the United Kingdom flag, four of which orders were placed in United Kingdom yards.
