HC Deb 14 December 1984 vol 69 cc602-3W
Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the amount of subsidy paid per annum to provide school meals in Wales; and what proportion is paid to subsidise the cost of midday meals to boarding pupils.

Mr. John Stradling Thomas

The net recurrent cost of the school meals service for maintained schools in Wales is provisionally estimated to have been £27.6 million in 1983–84. Information as to the cost of subsidising midday meals for boarding pupils is not available centrally.
