§ Mr. Alex Carlileasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many persons sentenced to youth custody had been released on parole licence and have been supervised by local authority social workers in England and Wales since the implementation of part 1, sections 1 to 10, of the Criminal Justice Act 1982;
(2) how many young persons aged 15 to 21 years have been released on parole from youth custody establishments and are in addition subject to a local authority care order.
§ Mr. MellorThe number of persons released on parole licence who have been supervised by local authority social workers and/or who are also subject to a local authority care order are not recorded centrally, and the information requested could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. They are, however, a small proportion of the young offenders released on parole licence.
