In 1983, arrivals in the United Kingdom of all shipping, excluding yachts, from foreign ports (outside the Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man) numbered 41,000 for United Kingdom registered ships and 54,000 for non-United Kingdom registered ships.
