HC Deb 11 December 1984 vol 69 c419W
Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list those areas in the United Kingdom which are designated specially for nap-of-the-earth flying by Army or Marines' helicopters; and whether any consultations took place with local authorities over the designation of these areas.

Mr. Lee

I assume that by "nap-of-the-earth" flying the right hon. Member is referring to low flying. All of the United Kingdom may be used by Army and Royal Marines helicopters for low flying subject to the usual restrictions. Consultations with local authorities are, therefore, not appropriate.
