HC Deb 06 December 1984 vol 69 c230W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many enterprise agencies exist in Wales; how many jobs currently exist in these agencies; what is his calculation of the number of jobs per agency; and what total cash the Welsh agencies received.

Mr. John Stradling Thomas

Eleven local enterprise agencies are now operating in Wales directly employing 65 people. They estimate that they have been instrumental in creating or safeguarding a total of some 4,400 jobs.

Information is not available about the total financial support for these agencies which receive funding from a variety of sources. Urban programme contributions during the current financial year amount to £135,900.
