HL Deb 05 December 1984 vol 457 cc1439-40WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they can specify the method of payment from the European Social Fund to private sector or voluntary projects; that is to say, whether funds went direct to the projects or were channelled through a Government Department or Agency.

The Minister Without Portfolio (Lord Young of Graffham)

Payments from the European Social Fund to private sector or voluntary projects are made through the Department of Employment (or the Northern Ireland Office) and are accompanied by directions specifying to which projects they are to be made. They are then transferred directly to those organisations.
