HC Deb 04 December 1984 vol 69 c137W
Mr. Terry Davis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs who has been appointed by Her Majesty's Government as executive director of the World Bank; when this executive director was appointed; and how often he has met the Minister for Overseas Development to discuss the World Bank report on population.

Mr. Raison

Mr. Nigel L. Wicks, formerly of Her Majesty's Treasury, was appointed as United Kingdom executive director to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank with effect from 2 May 1983. Since he is resident in Washington, Mr. Wicks has not had direct discussions with me about the bank's 1984 world development report, which focused on population matters. However, the Overseas Development Administration did provide briefing on this aspect of the report to Mr. Wicks prior to its publication.
