asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what advice he has been sent by the advisory committee on the supply and education of teachers on the number of teachers required to put into practice current educational policies by 1993.

41. Mr. Sedgemore

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from the advisory committee on the supply and education of teachers on the number of teachers needed by 1993.

Mr. Dunn

The committee has advised that, on the Department's principal projection of pupil numbers, the primary and secondary schools of England and Wales would in 1993 require a total of 416,000 full-time teachers for this purpose.
