asked Her majesty's Government:

Whether they accept the recommendation of the Auld Committee that the Wages Council machinery be retained for shop workers in order to establish and enforce satisfactory wages and premiums.

This recommendation will be considered in the context of the Government's current scrutiny of the operation and effects of the Wages Councils system.
