§ Mr. YoungerDetails of the prison population in 1983 were published on 27 November 1984 in the report "Prisons in Scotland" (Cmnd. 9400) and the accompanying statistical bulletin. On 20 November 1984 the total population in Scottish penal establishments was 4,976, made up as follows:
