HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 c41W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what views he has received since the publication of the Montgomery report regarding the problems of island authorities; and what policy he is formulating over its proposals.

Mr. Ancram

My right hon. Friend has received a large number of responses to his invitation to interested parties to submit comments upon the report, including submissions from each of the islands councils. The committee's recommendations, and the views received on them, are now being considered, and we shall announce our conclusions as soon as possible.
