§ Mr. TrippierStatistics of gross domestic product for Devon and Cornwall are already published by the Central Statistical Office for the most recent year for which data is available, that is, 1979 in Economic Trends — an HMSO publication. The latest statistics on employment that are available to the Department of Employment indicate that the numbers employed in the service sector in Cornwall and Devon in September 1981 are 78,400 and 210,600 respectively; more disaggregated statistics concerning activities within the service sector are available from Department of Employment on request. Comprehensive information on the relocation of office jobs from London is not available from Department of Trade and Industry sorces. The Department's records show that under the office and service industry scheme,10W three firms have accepted offers of assistance to move from London to Devon and Cornwall since 1979, involving an estimated 180 jobs.
