HC Deb 12 April 1984 vol 58 c370W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will detail the reasons why he has rejected the proposals of Dyfed education authority for the reorganisation of the secondary schools in the Narbeth, Whitland, St. Clears area.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The reasons for rejecting the authority's proposals were set out in my Department's letter of 20 February 1984 to the chief executive officer of the county council.

Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if, in the light of his rejection of the proposals of Dyfed education authority for reorganisation of the secondary schools in the Narbeth, Whitland, St. Clears area, it remains his policy to support a bilingual (Welsh) secondary school in that catchment area.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

It is our policy to promote bilingual educational in Wales, but it is for local education authorities to decide precisely how it should be provided, taking account of the needs of particular areas.
