§ 38. Mr. Simsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied with progress on the civilianisation of police posts in the Metropolis.
§ Mr. HurdYes; it has been the policy of successive Commissioners to civilianise police posts, where appropriate, and a substantial degree of civilianisation has taken place over many years. As my right hon. and learned Friend stated in reply to a question from my hon. Friend, the Member for Westminster, North (Mr. Wheeler) on 8 February, at columns 594–95, he has indicated to the Commissioner that civilianisation should continue to have a high priority.
