§ Mr. Fisherasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police forces have requested and been granted additional police officers in connection with the miners' dispute since 25 March; and whether he will list the forces and the number of officers seconded.
§ Mr. HurdIn the period from 26 March to 6 April inclusive, 10 chief officers of police having to conduct operations in connection with the current miners' dispute requested and received the help of officers from other forces at some stage. The forces receiving the assistance were Derbyshire, Humberside, Leicestershire, Northumbria, north Wales, Nottinghamshire, south Wales, south Yorkshire, Staffordshire and Warwickshire. The number of officers involved varied from day to day. The maximum was about 6,000.
