HC Deb 06 April 1984 vol 57 c681W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Cypriots who came to the United Kingdom having lost their homes as a result of the 1974 war are still required to renew their permission to stay (a)every six months, and (b) at other intervals; and how many on such renewal arrangements have been deported each year since 1974.

Mr. Waddington

Since April 1982 all Cypriots who were accepted as having been displaced to this country by the events in Cyprus of 1974, and who had been given leave to remain by successive Governments on that basis, have, on application, been granted settlement.

No Cypriots have been deported since 1974 if, at the time, they were considered to have a valid claim to benefit from the concessionary policy.
