§ Mr. Chris Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people under 21 years of age from (a) Islington, (b) Greater London and (c) England and Wales have been sentenced to either detention centres or youth custody in each of the months from 24 May 1983 onwards; if he will give comparative figures for sentence to detention centres or borstal for the previous two years; and if, in each case from May 1983, he will give a breakdown of the length of the youth custody sentences involved.
§ Mr. HurdThe home address of persons sentenced at court and received into prison department establishments in England and Wales is not recorded centrally. The information requested could be provided for courts in Islington and Greater London only at disproportionate cost. The available information for England and Wales was published on 13 March in Home Office statistical bulletin, issue No. 3/84.
