asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans he has for fostering a closer relationship between the Open University and the Open Tech

The relationship between the Open University and the Open Tech is a matter for the two institutions. Links between them already exist. The University is represented on the Open Tech programme steering committee; it has a liaison officer for regular contact with the Open Tech and there are a variety of other contacts both centrally and regionally. The university has a contract with the Open Tech unit to provide consultancy advice, and one of the regional offices received a grant from the Open Tech to develop an information bank on training operators in the area.
