§ Mr. HurdPolice force establishments are kept under review by chief officers, police authorities and Her Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary. Police authorities are responsible for fixing the authorised establishment of force, subject to my right hon. and learned Friend's approval. For information about the present position of applications received from police authorities for increases in their police establishments in the current financial year and the number of additional posts approved, I refer my hon.
