HC Deb 12 May 1983 vol 42 c371W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many times he has paid official visits to Wales since May 1979; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Walker

The Secretary of State for Wales is of course responsible for agriculture in Wales, and throughout the last four years he and I have had close liaison on all matters concerned with Welsh agriculture. I have frequently met Welsh farm leaders and held regular meetings with the chairman of the Agricultural Advisory Panel for Wales. In 1982 I visited dairies in the Llandyrnog area and I am currently considering an invitation to visit the Pembrokeshire branch of the National Farmers Union.
