§ Mr. Muddasked the Secretary of State for Industry how much aid has been given by the EC to Cornwall, and for what projects, during each of the most recent years for which figures are available.
§ Mr. MacGregorThe following table provides, for each of the years 1980 to 1982, the number of projects in Cornwall in respect of which grants or loans have been received from the European regional development fund and the European Investment Bank, respectively, and the total amounts granted.
Detailed analyses by project of the allocations from the European regional development fund were published in "British Business" for 22 February 1980, 27 June 1980, 6 February 1981, 6 March 1981, 17 July 1981, 5 February 1982, 2 July 1982 and 14 January 1983.
Principles of commercial confidentiality preclude the disclosure of the particular projects which have benefited from European Investment.
Firms in the area can also benefit from national schemes of assistance under the Science and Technology Act 1965; and there are also many other ways in which firms could benefit, as for example under the small engineering firms investment scheme and the loan guarantee scheme. But details cannot be identified without disproportionate cost.
