§ Mr. Muddasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will list the specific policies implemented since May 1981 that have been aimed at assisting the growth of the Cornish tin mining industry.
§ Mr. MacGregorAmong items known to the Department are that the method of assessing the rateable value of tin mines has been reviewed and made more equitable from 1 April 1983. Financial assistance has been provided to a mumber of companies under both the Industry Act 1972 and the Mineral exploration and Investment Grants Act 1972. Through the auspices of the Department, South Crofty Ltd. received a major loan from the European Investment Bank to assist in modernisation of its mine.
